The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Venum misses with a head kick.
Vaughn misses with an uppercut
and Venum counters with a left to the body.
Vaughn finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Venum drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Vaughn throws Venum to one side and escapes!
Vaughn takes a head kick and keeps coming.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Venum tries to clinch there but Vaughn circles away.

You can see the frustration on Vaughn's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Venum in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Vaughn really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Venum tries to stand but Vaughn is controlling his head.
An elbow from Venum crashes against the mat.
Venum working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Vaughn wants to control but Venum postures up.
Venum working the strikes but Vaughn uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Venum throwing shots but Vaughn is blocking nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Venum is pressing down on Vaughn's thigh, looking to free his foot. Vaughn is holding on for now.
Venum looks winded!
Venum throws a strike but Vaughn avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
