Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Travis Burks (ranked 6871 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Baldwin (ranked 5221 p4p, 0 weight class). Jake Baldwin has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Travis Burks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Baldwin!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Baldwin clinches up with Burks and pushes him back against the cage.

Burks's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Burks tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Baldwin is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.

Baldwin manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Burks on his heels. He'll look to pass Burks's guard now, I'm sure.
Baldwin advances to half guard.

Burks might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Burks is not content to let Baldwin control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Baldwin is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Burks is looking to improve his position but Baldwin isn't that keen on the idea.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Burks wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Baldwin.
Baldwin throws some wild stikes that Burks manages to avoid easily.
Baldwin wants to control the pace but Burks is squirming around nicely.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Baldwin gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Burks avoids the head kick by Baldwin.
Burks changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Burks keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
As Baldwin looks to move away, Burks throws a big counter combo but Baldwin just gets out of the way.

Baldwin shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Burks's guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Burks manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Baldwin decides to pull guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Burks tries to close the distance and clinch but Baldwin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Baldwin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Burks.
Baldwin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Baldwin drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Baldwin has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Burks is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Jake Baldwin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Burks shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Baldwin has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Burks is on him like a limpet, forcing Baldwin back against the cage.

Burks avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Travis Burks is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Baldwin shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Baldwin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Baldwin is trying to control. Burks wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Well, if Baldwin is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Baldwin looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Burks has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Baldwin is working away from the top position though.

Burks is defending against the submission attempts here by Baldwin.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Jake Baldwin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Travis Burks's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Baldwin pivots, looking for a leg kick but Burks is out of range and Baldwin settles back down.
Baldwin fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Burks looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Burks wants to take the fight to the mat but Baldwin manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Baldwin gets control of Burks's arms and successfully pulls guard. Baldwin will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Baldwin is on top in guard.

Well Baldwin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
