Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Ribeiro (ranked 860 p4p, 121 weight class) and Somrak Khamsing (ranked 1547 p4p, 204 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Marcus Ribeiro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Somrak Khamsing!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Bart Greer and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khamsing with a body punch. A glancing blow.

Ribeiro drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Ribeiro working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Ribeiro trying to control the position from guard on top but Khamsing is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Khamsing will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Khamsing looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Ribeiro works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Khamsing tries to roll over but Ribeiro keeps him under control.

Ribeiro is trying to work for a kimura but Khamsing is defending well.
Ribeiro takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Ribeiro looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Ribeiro seems to be working for a kimura but Khamsing defends the submission attempt.

Ribeiro is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Khamsing sees it coming and defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ribeiro is keen to just control but Khamsing is a slippery customer.

Ribeiro is looking for a kimura but Khamsing is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ribeiro to get the leverage.
Khamsing is trying to get back to full guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ribeiro with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Ribeiro is thwarting Khamsing's attempts to control the position.
Ribeiro lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Khamsing really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ribeiro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ribeiro is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Khamsing is just riding it out for now. Ribeiro eventually gives up the hold.

Khamsing looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

We've been hearing good reports from Ribeiro's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Ribeiro in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Khamsing tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Ribeiro!

After winning the bout, Marcus Ribeiro thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
In defeat, Somrak Khamsing stepped up to the mic, saying 'You are just lucky today!'.
