Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, George Lewis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Stanislaw Cheba! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Anni Minnemäki and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lewis shoots and misses and Cheba counters with a stiff right hand. Lewis misses with a takedown enabling Cheba to counter with a crisp jab. A swing and a miss from Lewis. Lewis throws a combination that misses letting Cheba counter with a right hand.
It looks like George Lewis has been cut. Lewis looks for a takedown but Cheba sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Lewis. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lewis has his takedown stuffed and Cheba counters with a straight right hand. Cheba looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Cheba throws a hook to the side of Lewis's head but Lewis sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lewis tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cheba swats him away and circles back towards the center. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lewis. Lewis throws a head kick that misses enabling Cheba to counter with a crisp jab. Lewis feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cheba wants to sweep here but Lewis controlling him for the moment. Cheba is trying to keep Lewis in close.
Cheba throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Lewis scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Lewis is looking to stand up but Cheba won't let him. Cheba had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Lewis defends it easily. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cheba can do anything to dispel that myth. Cheba is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Lewis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Lewis avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Lewis closes the distance and clinches up with Cheba, looking for a takedown. Lewis pushes Cheba against the cage but Cheba circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Lewis sets himself, and Cheba steps forward looking for the clinch! Lewis avoids it this time. Cheba throws a jab but it's blocked by Lewis. Lewis appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Cheba fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Lewis looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Lewis is breathing heavily. Lewis takes a shot right to the bread basket. Lewis is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cheba sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Stanislaw Cheba is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Cheba stuns Lewis with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. The crowd cheers as Cheba lands an impressive looking overhand right. Lewis doesn't seem phased though. Good exchange - Cheba coming out on top. Cheba scores with a crisp jab that stopped Lewis in his tracks.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cheba cracks Lewis with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Cheba has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Lewis to stand back up!
Lewis is rocked! Cheba clinches up with Lewis and pushes him back against the cage. Cheba breaks the clinch.
Cheba throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Lewis on the side of the head. Oh Lewis is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Cheba misses the jab. Lewis seems to have got his legs back now. Cheba circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Lewis to the canvas! Lewis doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Cheba keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Stanislaw Cheba!
