Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Marin Ivanov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Pablo Moraes! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Michael Johnstone and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Moraes throws a leg kick and Ivanov counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Moraes wants to control but Ivanov is keeping busy.
Moraes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Ivanov lands strikes from half guard. Ivanov scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Ivanov seems to be working for a kimura but Moraes defends the submission attempt. Moraes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ivanov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ivanov is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Ivanov has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Ivanov wants to work for an arm triangle but Moraes is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ivanov working over Moraes with some ground and pound. Moraes looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Moraes trying to control but Ivanov postures up.
Ivanov prevents Moraes from standing back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ivanov lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Moraes is in trouble now - Ivanov has advanced to mount! The referee warns Moraes that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Ivanov dominating with strikes here. Moraes is looking to get to half guard. Moraes tries to hold on but Ivanov pushes him away. Ivanov is landing with some decent strikes but Moraes is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Moraes is rocked! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ivanov is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Ivanov extends the arm and Moraes is forced to tap!
