Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Karol Rasputin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kaz Fujita! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Daniel Franklin and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rasputin feints and as Fujita raises his hands in defense, Rasputin changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Rasputin trying to control the position from guard on top but Fujita is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Rasputin throws a big right hand that misses. Fujita keeping moving, preventing Rasputin from controlling successfully. Fujita has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fujita is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rasputin is controlling him. Fujita is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Rasputin definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rasputin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fujita pulls Rasputin in close to prevent any damage. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rasputin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rasputin trying to control but Fujita is working from the bottom. Rasputin makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Rasputin trying to control the position from guard on top but Fujita is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Fujita working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Rasputin. Rasputin working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Fujita's head. Rasputin being controlled here momentarily. Fujita really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rasputin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Fujita is trying to keep Rasputin in close.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rasputin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Fujita works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Fujita keeping moving, preventing Rasputin from controlling successfully. Rasputin landing some decent shots from guard. Fujita trying to control the position here. Fujita keeping full guard, as Rasputin tries to pass. Rasputin distracts Fujita with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Rasputin with a flurry of punches that miss. Rasputin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Fujita keeping moving, preventing Rasputin from controlling successfully. Fujita seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Rasputin landing some decent shots from guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fujita pulls Rasputin in close to his closed guard and prevents Rasputin from doing any damage or advancing position. Rasputin wants to control from the top but Fujita keeps moving. Fujita pulls Rasputin in close to prevent any damage. Rasputin scoring with punches to the head and body. Rasputin is working Fujita over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Rasputin wants to control from the top but Fujita keeps moving. Rasputin postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Fujita covers up, he's hurt! Rasputin keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Rasputin and the ref steps in to end the fight! Rasputin can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
