Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Iker Ramirez (ranked 238 p4p, 30 weight class) and Bong Ji Woo (ranked 573 p4p, 69 weight class). Ji Woo comes into a darkened arena with his song building. 나쁜 달 상승 kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Iker Ramirez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bong Ji Woo!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paulsen Ambrosius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ji Woo takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Ramirez swings for the body but Ji Woo moves out of range.
Ji Woo throws out a counter right but Ramirez avoids it with no problem.
Ji Woo throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Ramirez connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Iker Ramirez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ji Woo lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Ramirez at a distance.
Ramirez throws a jab but it's blocked by Ji Woo.

Ramirez moves into the clinch.
Ramirez lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Ji Woo is trying to pull guard but Ramirez has him pressed against the cage.

Ji Woo ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Ji Woo no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Ji Woo has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Ramirez is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Ji Woo.
Ramirez has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Ji Woo is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Ramirez knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Ramirez for a finish.

Ramirez is having to fend off submission attempts from Ji Woo, who is looking to sink in the choke. Ji Woo doesn't have the hooks in though and Ramirez manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ramirez is looking to stand up but Ji Woo won't let him.

Ji Woo has his foot on Ramirez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ramirez works his way back into a safe position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Bong Ji Woo will probably get the nod.
That's time! Ramirez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ramirez lands a nice hook to Ji Woo's body. Ji Woo takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Ji Woo moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Ramirez lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Good leg kick by Ramirez there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ramirez tries to free his leg and advance position but Ji Woo is retaining full guard.

Ji Woo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ramirez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Ramirez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ji Woo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ramirez has managed to get both his arms back between Ji Woo's legs - danger averted.
Ramirez wants to get up but he can't break Ji Woo's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Ramirez seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ji Woo takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

A very excited looking Iker Ramirez rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
