PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Roach (ranked 2868 p4p, 378 weight class) and Evan Dryll (ranked 3213 p4p, 411 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Roach!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Evan Dryll!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Francis DeMontford and Ben Watson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roach avoids the body shot from Dryll.
Dryll fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Roach manages to avoid it.
Dryll connects with an inside leg kick.
Left hook, right uppercut from Dryll.
Roach throws a half hearted mid kick.
A low kick from Dryll misses
and Roach counters with a nice uppercut.
Dryll throws the left hand but Roach avoids the punch easily.
Dryll pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Roach throwing a counter right hand but Dryll manages to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dryll misses with an uppercut. Roach saw that one coming.
Dryll cracks Roach with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Dryll throws an overhand right that lands on Roach's shoulder, as Roach tries to avoid the shot.
Roach quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

Dryll shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Roach tries to kick Dryll off in order to stand up. Dryll Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Dryll tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Roach is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Dryll is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Roach will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Roach keeps Dryll under control for a moment.
Dryll is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Roach's shoulder. That is not cool.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Dryll looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Roach is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Dryll asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dryll tries for a kimura but Roach is defending well.
Dryll working away.
Roach wants to get back to his feet.
Dryll trying to control the position but Roach is working away.
Dryll staying calm.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Roach wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Roach is not content to let Dryll control the position.
Roach is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Dryll tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Dryll in side control, just content to control the action for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Dryll working away.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Roach tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Dryll was well out of range. Poor timing from Roach.
Dryll doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Dryll swings widly with a right hand
and Roach counters with a lovely straight right hand!


It looks like Evan Dryll has been cut.
Dryll pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Roach tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Dryll was well out of range. Poor timing from Roach.
Steve Roach is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
A telegraphed right hand from Dryll misses the target.
Dryll swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Dryll throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Roach stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Evan Dryll dominated that round.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


That kick from Dryll tenderised Roach's leg. Roach is trying to keep his angry face on.
Dryll jabs Roach to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Dryll misses with a double jab
and Roach counters with an inside leg kick.
Dryll works the jab nicely.
Roach misses with a straight left.
Dryll misses with a hook.
Dryll throws a right and a left that Roach avoids nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dryll moves into range and connects with a jab.
Roach uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Dryll.
Dryll throws a hook to the side of Roach's head but Roach sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Roach swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Dryll throws an off balance right hand
and Roach counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Dryll misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
It looked like Roach wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Dryll is looking to land body kicks.
Dryll misses with a left hand
and Roach counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Dryll is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Dryll throws a poor cross that misses
and Roach counters with a nice uppercut.
Dryll throws a combination that misses
and Dryll takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Dryll gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Roach connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Dryll throws an overhand right that lands on Roach's shoulder, as Roach tries to avoid the shot.
Dryll throws a low kick but it's checked well by Roach.
Dryll looks to score with a jab to the body but Roach is just out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Roach on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Dryll. Dryll obviously looking to wear him down.
Dryll throws a right hand that misses
and Roach counters with a good low kick that Dryll was not able to check.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dryll misses with a looping right.
Dryll throws a poor cross that misses
and Roach counters with a straight that turns Dryll's legs to rubber! Roach pushes forward with more strikes and Dryll goes down, battered and bloody! That's a wrap folks!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Steve Roach!
Steve Roach seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
