0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of London, James Rudabaugh! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Sam Margolis and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Townsend stuffs the takedown attempt from Rudabaugh. Rudabaugh gets slowly back to his feet. Rudabaugh gets caught flat footed, as Townsend shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Townsend looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Rudabaugh looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Townsend gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Townsend works Rudabaugh's body with a nice hook.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rudabaugh gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Townsend to score an easy takedown into full guard. Townsend is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Rudabaugh controls Townsend momentarily but Townsend frees himself. Townsend controlling from the top position. Rudabaugh looks winded! Rudabaugh tries to land a sweep but no joy. Townsend engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Townsend shoots for a double leg takedown but Rudabaugh sprawls well. He's pushed Townsend's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Townsend tries to keep at a distance but Rudabaugh has taken the fight into the clinch. Townsend pulls guard successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Rudabaugh got a little sloppy there for a moment and Townsend has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rudabaugh has managed to get both his arms back between Townsend's legs - danger averted. Townsend throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Rudabaugh escapes and throws Townsend's legs to the side, diving into side control! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Townsend sneaks out the side door and pushes Rudabaugh away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Rudabaugh goes for a double leg but Townsend avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Townsend continues to drive forward. As Rudabaugh backs away, Townsend returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Rudabaugh fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Townsend avoids it really well and circles away. James Townsend has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Rudabaugh.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rudabaugh misses with a takedown attempt and Townsend counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Townsend lands a nice knee to the body. Townsend could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Townsend is trying to push Rudabaugh away but Rudabaugh has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Townsend stalls. Townsend has Rudabaugh pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rudabaugh manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Townsend is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Rudabaugh gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Rudabaugh taking a breather. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Townsend digs a right hand underneath Rudabaugh's ribcage. Rudabaugh let out a lung full of air as it connected. Rudabaugh is working for takedown but Townsend is calmly controlling the position for now. Townsend doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Rudabaugh throws a hook to the side of Townsend's head but Townsend sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Townsend throws a big counter combination but Rudabaugh scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Townsend closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rudabaugh circles away. James Townsend is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Rudabaugh thows a leg kick but Townsend checks it and Townsend counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Rudabaugh! Townsend is staying tight to Rudabaugh's torso, preventing him from escaping. Rudabaugh wants to get back to his feet. Townsend decides to take the fight back to the feet. Townsend dives in for a single leg takedown but Rudabaugh sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Townsend. That's going to take a lot out of him. Townsend closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Rudabaugh quickly recovers to half guard. Townsend landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Townsend performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Nice strikes from Townsend there.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Townsend in particular looking to stall. James Townsend overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Townsend is stinking the place up with his stalling. Townsend lands strikes from half guard. Townsend is taking a breather. Rudabaugh says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. A quick step to the side and Townsend tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Rudabaugh bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! This has been an exciting period of action! Rudabaugh shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Townsend as he avoids it easily. James Rudabaugh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rudabaugh tries to clinch up but Townsend circles away and keeps his distance. Rudabaugh shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Townsend as he jumps to the side. Townsend shoots in and bounces Rudabaugh off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Townsend sitting in guard, not really doing much.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to James Rudabaugh. I think Townsend has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
