Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Senne Thys! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rutger Myers! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thys tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Myers swivels and escapes. Myers feints and as Thys raises his hands in defense, Myers changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Myers prevents Thys from getting back to his feet. Thys wants to sweep here but Myers controlling him for the moment. Myers trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Myers content to stall in guard here. Thys looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thys looking to hit a scissor sweep but Myers is one step ahead there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Myers's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Myers pushes down on Thys's leg and manages to get into half guard. Myers working over Thys with some ground and pound. Thys looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Myers controlling the action here. It looks like Myers might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Myers wants to free his trapped foot but Thys is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Myers stops Thys from getting back to his feet.
Myers is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Myers with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Myers is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Myers performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Myers looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Myers prevents Thys from improving his position. Thys is breathing heavily. Myers wants to pass to mount but Thys is defending the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Myers decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Myers wants to pass the guard but Thys is defending well. Thys is staying active underneath Myers, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Thys moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Myers distracts Thys with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A left and a right from Myers both land. Nice combination. Myers has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Thys gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Myers with a nice head shot there. Thys is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Let's see if Myers can do anything to dispel that myth. Myers is looking to control Thys's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Myers avoid being mounted?
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Myers shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Thys is trying to defend but Myers finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Myers trying to mount his opponent but Thys defends it. Myers seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Thys has recovered full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Myers distracts Thys with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Myers is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Thys is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Thys has escaped and now he's on top!
Rutger Myers has got the better of the ground game so far. Myers trying to keep a closed guard but Thys is proving a slippery customer.

A close second round but Rutger Myers will probably get the nod - 10:9. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Myers clinches. Thys trying to control the position but instead, Myers has worked for underhooks and has pushed Thys into the cage. Thys goes for a takedown in the clinch but Myers prevents it.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Thys fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Myers sprawls well initially but Thys persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Myers is looking to improve his position.
Myers is refusing to be controlled, as Thys sits in half guard. Thys is really struggling to control Myers but he's trying to hold on to the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Myers wants to get back to full guard. Myers makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Myers. Thys preventing the sweep. Myers seems keen to control Thys's posture.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Thys shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Senne Thys. That's going to take a lot out of him. Myers moves into the clinch. Myers has picked Thys up - he's going for a ride! Myers dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Myers takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Thys has hold of Myers's hands but Myers slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Myers is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Thys wants to get back to full guard. Myers moves into full mount! Thys won't be happy about that! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Myers pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Senne Thys has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Rutger Myers is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Myers postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Thys looks a forlorn figure.

And that's the end of the fight! Rutger Myers comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Myers has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
