Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Cook (ranked 5183 p4p, 0 weight class) and Remy Martin (ranked 5062 p4p, 516 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Cook! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Remy Martin! The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Steve Erwin and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Martin pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Cook back to the cage. Martin follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Cook takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Martin shoots in looking for a takedown. Cook tries to sprawl out of it but Martin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cook manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Cook shoots in and bounces Martin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Martin is trying to control the position but Cook postures up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cook controlling from the top position. Martin wants to sweep but no luck.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cook trying to control the position from guard on top but Martin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Cook throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Martin works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Cook slips nicely into half guard. Cook not doing much here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cook's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Martin is looking to improve his position.
Cook decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Cook shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Martin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cook prevents Martin from getting back to his feet. Cook postures up.
Cook engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Martin wants to get back to his feet but Cook passes into half guard.
Cook trying to control the pace. Martin is looking for a sweep. Cook is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Cook is taking a breather. Martin says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Cook scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Martin is in trouble now - Cook has advanced to mount! Cook takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Martin is trying to escape the mount.
Cook jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Martin manages to avoid the submission attempt.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Cook looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Cook stands up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Martin's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Martin duly obliges. A momentary lapse in concentration from Martin enables Cook to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Martin manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Martin is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Cook dives into side control.
Martin tries to escape but Cook is in control. This has been an exciting period of action! Cook happy to just control the position for now. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Martin wants to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Cook dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Cook gets a takedown into half guard. Cook scoring with strikes to the body and head. Cook is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Cook working over Martin with some ground and pound. Martin looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cook seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. John Cook overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Cook is trying to control the action in half guard but Martin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Cook controlling the action here.

Cook wants to work for an arm triangle but Martin is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Martin is looking to control Cook's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Martin avoid being mounted? The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cook wants to lay and pray for a moment but Martin keeps working. Cook slows the pace down in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Martin is concentrating on defense, preventing Cook from advancing position. Cook wants to control but Martin is keeping him busy. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Cook not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Cook takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Cook shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Cook showed some decent athleticism there. Martin wants to get back to his feet. Martin wants to get back to full guard. Still in half guard, Cook seems content to control. Martin tries to roll over but Cook keeps him under control. Cook is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Martin can do to turn this around?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cook stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Cook tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Cook changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Martin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Martin wants to control but Cook postures up. Martin tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Cook presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Martin slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Cook wants to pass the guard but Martin is defending well. Martin is looking to improve his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cook looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Cook is working for a submission of some sort.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Martin is looking for a sweep. Cook is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Cook dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Cook gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Martin doesn't manage to clinch there - Cook circles away.
Cook instigates a clinch. Martin is trying to drag Cook to the mat but Cook just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Cook has Martin pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Cook pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Martin tumbling to the mat - Cook dives into Martin's guard. Martin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cook is one step ahead there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cook passes Martin's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Martin tries to roll over but Cook keeps him under control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cook slips a nice elbow through Martin's hands, connecting with Martin's forehead. Martin is trying to maintain the position but Cook is very close to passing his half guard. Cook content to control rather than advance. Martin taking some punishment here, with Cook in his half guard. Cook takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Cook decides to stand up. Cook throws a head kick that misses and Martin counters with a lovely shot to the body. Martin swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Cook counters by moving into the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cook ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Cook no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Martin won't allow Cook to sweep him here. Martin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cook is keeping the position for now. Cook is adopting a defensive guard. Cook trying to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cook is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Martin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Cook looking to control.
Martin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cook. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Cook manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Martin manages to get himself to full guard.
Martin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Cook desperately trying to maintain half guard.

The fighters are battling for position here. Cook manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Cook wants to sweep but no luck. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Cook manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Martin manages to get himself to full guard.
Cook won't allow Martin to sweep him here.
And that's the end of the fight! John Cook showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cook, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
