8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Adam Mohammed! The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kowalevitz with a poor takedown and Mohammed counters with a nice double leg into guard. Kowalevitz trying to keep a closed guard but Mohammed is proving a slippery customer.
Mohammed got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kowalevitz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mohammed has managed to get both his arms back between Kowalevitz's legs - danger averted. Kowalevitz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mohammed doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mohammed manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Mohammed landing with the ground and pound. Kowalevitz is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mohammed working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Kowalevitz working a defensive guard here.
Mohammed keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kowalevitz's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mohammed working some strikes from top position. Kowalevitz looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kowalevitz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mohammed defends it easily. Kowalevitz working for a triangle but Mohammed defends it easily.
Mohammed postures up and lands a big shot to Kowalevitz's brow. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Kowalevitz working for a triangle but Mohammed defends it easily.
Mohammed is in close to Kowalevitz's body, working some short punches and elbows.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mohammed postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Kowalevitz covers up, he's hurt! Mohammed keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Mohammed and the ref steps in to end the fight! Mohammed can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
