Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Stanford Keith (ranked 7887 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daisy McLaughlin (ranked 7640 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Stanford Keith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Daisy McLaughlin!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McLaughlin buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Keith tries to clinch there but McLaughlin circles away.

Keith fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging McLaughlin to the ground. Keith is now in McLaughlin's guard.
Keith working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Keith drops back looking for a leg! McLaughlin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and McLaughlin manages to kick Keith off! Keith jumps back into McLaughlin's guard.
McLaughlin seems keen to control Keith's posture.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Keith stands up from McLaughlin's guard - Keith perhaps looking for a knockout.
Keith fails with the takedown.

Keith moves out of range as McLaughlin strikes.
McLaughlin throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Keith seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
McLaughlin tries a head kick but it misses.
McLaughlin throws a right and a left that both miss.
Keith takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

McLaughlin manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Keith on his heels. He'll look to pass Keith's guard now, I'm sure.

McLaughlin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

McLaughlin wants to stand but Keith has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Keith is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Keith really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from McLaughlin.
It looked like Keith was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from McLaughlin.

McLaughlin manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Keith on his heels. He'll look to pass Keith's guard now, I'm sure.

Keith tries to land a sweep but no joy.
McLaughlin wants to control from the top but Keith keeps moving.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Keith has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Daisy McLaughlin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


McLaughlin lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
McLaughlin's coach down at MMA Dojo was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on McLaughlin's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Keith shoots in for a takedown but McLaughlin shows good takedown defense.

Keith gets caught flat footed, as McLaughlin shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Keith wants to sweep here but McLaughlin controlling him for the moment.

McLaughlin is pushing down on Keith's leg trying to pass to half guard. Keith is fighting to maintain full guard but McLaughlin has managed to sneak the leg through.

McLaughlin wants to advance to full mount but Keith doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Keith pulls McLaughlin in close to his closed guard and prevents McLaughlin from doing any damage or advancing position.
McLaughlin would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Keith lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Keith seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Keith gets to his feet - McLaughlin follows without any prompting.

McLaughlin forces Keith back against the cage and clinches.

Keith throws an elbow but it's blocked.

McLaughlin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A combination from McLaughlin does no damage.
McLaughlin throws the kick towards the body but Keith avoids it.
Keith was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

Keith closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
McLaughlin is staying active underneath Keith, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
McLaughlin is trying to stand.

Keith decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Keith misses with a takedown attempt - McLaughlin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stanford Keith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Keith will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Stanford Keith is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

McLaughlin has taken the fight to the clinch.

McLaughlin has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Keith uses from the top position.

McLaughlin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than McLaughlin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

McLaughlin postures up in Keith's guard and throws a big left but Keith blocks it.
Oh Keith is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

McLaughlin is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Keith is on top in guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McLaughlin can do anything to dispel that myth.

McLaughlin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Keith can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well McLaughlin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
