Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Drotenkov Filippovich (ranked 3598 p4p, 406 weight class) and Shinya Aoki (ranked 4253 p4p, 467 weight class). Drotenkov Filippovich has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Peter Branson and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aoki changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Filippovich tries to avoid it but Aoki manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Filippovich to the ground. Filippovich escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Filippovich attempts a counter takedown but Aoki avoids it well and moves away.
Aoki misses with a wild body shot.

Filippovich ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Filippovich swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aoki throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Filippovich closes the distance and clinches up with Aoki, looking for a takedown. Filippovich pushes Aoki against the cage but Aoki circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Aoki looks to score with a jab to the body but Filippovich is just out of range.

Filippovich looks to land a left hand but Aoki moved out of range nicely.
We've been informed that Aoki has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Filippovich in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Aoki tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Filippovich!

After the fight, Drotenkov Filippovich was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
