Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tyson Avery (ranked 2969 p4p, 276 weight class) and Dilon Goncalves (ranked 3228 p4p, 295 weight class). Goncalves is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: TAPOUT. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Tyson Avery!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dilon Goncalves!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avery misses with an uppercut.

Avery drives through with a takedown into Goncalves's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Goncalves is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Goncalves can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Avery controls the pace.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Avery's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Goncalves escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Avery gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Avery is pushing down on Goncalves's leg trying to pass to half guard. Goncalves is fighting to maintain full guard but Avery has managed to sneak the leg through.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Avery sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Goncalves's guard.
Avery is looking to take a break and control but Goncalves is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Avery is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Goncalves's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Goncalves's back!

Avery is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Goncalves knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Goncalves for a finish.

Avery is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Goncalves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Avery swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Goncalves swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A counter left hand to the body from Avery misses its target.

Goncalves darts in and clinches Avery up against the cage.
Goncalves tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Avery just stands there and leans against the cage.

Avery is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Goncalves can't fight it off and eventually Avery manages to take the fight to the floor. Goncalves looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

I really don't envy Goncalves right now.

Avery is trying to trip Goncalves. He has hold of a leg but Goncalves is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Avery persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Avery postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Goncalves looks a forlorn figure.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Avery, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
