Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sal Flores!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, John Roberts and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Flores has Bernard up against the cage in a clinch.

Bernard jumps guard and drags Flores to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Flores lands a couple of decent looking shots.


It looks like Tod Bernard has been cut.
Flores missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Flores controlling from the top position.
Flores postures up in Bernard's guard and throws a big left but Bernard blocks it.
Bernard pulls Flores in close to prevent any damage.
Bernard will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Flores is looking to advance position but Bernard has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Flores tries to reverse the position but Bernard maintains control.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Flores can do anything to dispel that myth.

Flores is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
Flores tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Flores is in all sorts of trouble here.

Flores is squirming around, avoiding Bernard's attempts to control the action.
Bernard has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Flores's face.
Flores can't escape the position.
Flores is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Bernard with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Bernard lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Flores really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bernard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bernard is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Flores can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Bernard has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Flores tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Flores wants to control but Bernard is having none of it.
Bernard cracks Flores with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

You get the feeling that Flores really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Bernard landing punches.
The referee warns Flores that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Flores is in all sorts of trouble here.
Flores is squirming around, avoiding Bernard's attempts to control the action.
Bernard lands a big shot there that rocks Flores but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Bernard cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Flores throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Flores scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Flores closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.


Bernard is rocked!
Flores avoids the strikes from the bottom by Bernard.
You can see the frustration on Bernard's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Bernard is pushing Flores's head away, looking to escape. Flores manages to hold on to the position though.
Bernard is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Flores's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Bernard regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Flores.
Bernard is trying to keep Flores in close.

Bernard is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Bernard seems keen to control Flores's posture.

Tod Bernard's cut is getting worse.
Flores gets to his feet and stands over Bernard, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Bernard felt that one! Flores unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Bernard from any more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sal Flores!
