The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sands misses with a hook. Suckerpunch ducked under it nicely.
Sands lands a lovely overhand right.
Sands scores with a nice head shot.
Sands shoots in but no luck this time.
Suckerpunch walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Carl Sands seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sands looks to land a left hand but Suckerpunch moved out of range nicely.
Sands dodges the punch combination from Suckerpunch.
Sands gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Suckerpunch counters with a stiff right hand.
It looks like Carl Sands has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sands throws a poor cross that misses
and Suckerpunch counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Sands keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Sands bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Suckerpunch's head backwards.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sands misses with an uppercut. Suckerpunch saw that one coming.
Sands buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Sands lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
A punch lands to the side of Suckerpunch 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Sands uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Suckerpunch.
Sands fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Sands keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Sands darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Sands tries a head kick but it misses.
Sands fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Ricki Suckerpunch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carl Sands.
Sands misses with an uppercut.
Suckerpunch takes one to the side of the head.
Sands swats away the attempt to clinch by Suckerpunch.
Sands scores with a nice strike.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sands shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Suckerpunch is trying to stand back up but Sands is controlling him
Sands has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Suckerpunch defend it? Sands steps over the head and cranks it - Suckerpunch is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Sands!

In his post fight interview, Carl Sands started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
