Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tomas Byrd! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ollie OCallaghan! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Steve Erwin and Topper Green.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Byrd closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming OCallaghan to the mat! OCallaghan manages to get full guard. OCallaghan uses the cage to get back to his feet.
OCallaghan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Byrd drives through and clinches with OCallaghan against the cage.
OCallaghan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
OCallaghan closes the distance and pushes Byrd back into the cage. OCallaghan gets control of Byrd's arms and successfully pulls guard. OCallaghan will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Byrd missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Byrd throws a sloppy strike and OCallaghan has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Byrd is forced to tap! Great BJJ from OCallaghan!
