And in the blue corner, fighting out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 1 losses; Diego Gaspar!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.


The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Gaspar misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Drawers attempts a counter takedown but Gaspar avoids it well and moves away.

Gaspar has Drawers up against the cage in a clinch.

Drawers turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Gaspar is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Gaspar gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Gaspar regains half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Drawers is trying to control. Gaspar wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Gaspar tries to roll over but Drawers keeps him under control.

Drawers is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gaspar is just riding it out for now. Drawers eventually gives up the hold.
Drawers moves into full mount! Gaspar won't be happy about that!

Gaspar wants to hold on but Drawers pushes him away.
Gaspar is controlling an arm, preventing Drawers from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Drawers sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Drawers wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Gaspar is looking to improve his position but Drawers isn't that keen on the idea.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Drawers tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Gaspar regains half guard.
Gaspar wants to control but Drawers is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Drawers wants to free his trapped foot but Gaspar is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Drawers is stalling here. Gaspar is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Drawers seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Gaspar has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Gaspar wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Drawers, who protects the arm well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Drawers is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Drawers is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Gaspar is tapping! Great win for Drawers!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Chester Drawers!
Chester Drawers was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
