Coming up we have a welterweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Bob Backlund (ranked 10715 p4p, 613 weight class) and Royce Gracie (ranked 3160 p4p, 351 weight class). Backlund comes to the cage accompanied by Dance Fucker. Gracie has chosen Jiu Jitsu by Smoke Serpent as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Royce Gracie enters the cage!

The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Gracie wants to pass the guard but Backlund is keeping the position.

Backlund working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gracie doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gracie manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

We've been hearing good reports from Backlund's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Bob Backlund decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way. |
