Coming up we have a light heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Mr Steel Penn (ranked 3109 p4p, 397 weight class) and Konstantin Sokolov (ranked 1325 p4p, 206 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. Steel Penn shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sokolov as he avoids it easily.
Sokolov has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Sokolov rushes Steel Penn and presses him up against the cage.

We've been hearing good reports from Steel Penn's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Steel Penn goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Sokolov turns into him and now he's in Steel Penn's guard.

Steel Penn is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Sokolov sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Steel Penn doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Sokolov paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Steel Penn - great work!

Mr Steel Penn decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way. |
