Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joe Hogan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Freds! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Freds lands with a good body shot. Hogan throws a sloppy head kick and Freds moves out of range easily. A jab from Freds finds it's way through Hogan's defenses. Joe Hogan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hogan wants to clinch and Hogan takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Hogan is looking to clinch but Freds is avoiding it.
Hogan walks into a straight right hand from Freds. Freds digs a good body shot into Hogan's ribs. Hogan fails in his attempt to clinch. Freds circles away from the clinch attempt.
Freds works the jab nicely. Hogan wants to clinch. Hogan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Freds swats him away and circles back towards the center. Freds circles away from the clinch attempt and Freds counters with a straight right hand.
It looks like Joe Hogan has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Freds jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Freds has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Freds changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Freds avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Freds now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Freds lands a slapping body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hogan tries to clinch but fails miserably and Freds counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Hogan is rocked! Freds moves into range and connects with a jab. Oh Hogan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Hogan is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Freds swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Freds throws an uppercut from hell that sends Hogan clean off his feet! He's out cold! Freds stands back and admires his work as he thinks about that KO of the night award that is surely being wrapped up for him back stage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). John Freds! John Freds decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
