Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Pearson (ranked 1257 p4p, 143 weight class) and Brian Jones (ranked 894 p4p, 105 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Jones's choice of entrance music: Take my hand. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
23 - 18 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johnny Pearson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
26 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Brian Jones! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Pearson. That one must have hurt. Jones takes a swing at Pearson's ribcage but misses. Pearson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Jones stops Pearson from standing up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pearson trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Pearson keeping full guard, as Jones tries to pass. Jones stops Pearson from standing up. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A decent looking cross lands there for Pearson. Jones gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Pearson is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Pearson wants to clinch up but Jones keeps it at a distance. Jones feints a counter leg kick. Pearson throws a hook but Jones blocks it. Pearson feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Joness jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Jones walks into a stiff left hand from Pearson. Johnny Pearson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pearson misses with the body kick and Jones counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Pearson cracks Jones with an open hand slap. A combination from Pearson does no damage. Jones drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jones looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Pearson throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Jones looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Pearson thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Jones if he has to take too many more of those.

Jones shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pearson as he avoids it easily. Pearson is looking to counter the offense by Jones and move into the clinch. Pearson throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Jones looks for a takedown but Pearson sprawls well. Jones fails with the takedown. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jones chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Pearson can pounce on him.

Jones sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
