PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Wilson (ranked 1615 p4p, 21 weight class) and Kevaughn Aldridge (ranked 2452 p4p, 31 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Aldridge's choice of entrance music: Smooth Criminal By Michael Jackson. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sam Wilson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 19 - 2, fighting out of New York, Kevaughn Aldridge!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Anthony Taglia and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wilson closes the distance and clinches.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Wilson.
Wilson is leaning against Aldridge and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Aldridge blocks a body shot from Wilson.
A short uppercut from Wilson.
Wilson tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Aldridge pushes off an throws an elbow but Wilson leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Wilson on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Aldridge's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Wilson shoots for a takedown but Aldridge saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Aldridge plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Sam Wilson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Aldridge on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Wilson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Aldridge throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Wilson stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Aldridge follows into mount!


It looks like Sam Wilson has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wilson has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Aldridge's lack of action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Aldridge turns into Wilson and is now in his guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Aldridge has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Aldridge walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Wilson tries to close the distance and clinch but Aldridge swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Sam Wilson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
