Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bill Santana!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Jones!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Eddie Farnsworth and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones goes for a double leg but Santana avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Santana continues to drive forward.
Santana defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jones.
Santana could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Jones moves into the clinch.
Jones jumps guard but Santana stands there with Jones around his waist. Jones gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Bill Santana has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Jones.
Jones struggles to land a body shot inside as Santana controls his hands.
Santana wants to stall.
Santana looking to slow down the pace here.

Jones's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jones drives through with a takedown into Santana's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Santana swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jones gets to his feet. Santana looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

and Santana counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jones dives in and grabs Santana's left leg, looking for a takedown. Santana pushes down on Jones's head and hops out.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Santana is fighting to break Jones's control of his arms but Jones is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Santana thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Santana drops back looking for a leg! Jones is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jones manages to kick Santana off! Santana jumps back into Jones's guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Santana instigates a clinch.
Santana wants to get back to striking at distance but Jones won't allow it.

Santana breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Horrible takedown attempt by Jones or perhaps it was just good defense by Santana, which made it look bad.

Jones goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
A low kick from Jones is predictable there
and Santana counters with a straight right hand.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jones is defended easily by Santana.
Santana lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Santana as he jumps to the side.

Mike Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Jones wants to slow Santana down by chopping away at his legs.
Santana lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

Santana breaks from the clinch.
Santana tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jones swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Santana leaves Jones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Santana wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Mike Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Santana is looking to counter with head kicks.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Santana rushes Jones and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Santana's waist but Santana gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side.
Santana drops down looking for a counter takedown but Jones sprawls and moves away.
Jones gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Santana counters with a head kick. That will keep Jones thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Jones tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Santana swivels and escapes.
Santana looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.

Santana tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jones paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Santana bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jones's guard.

Santana throws a big right hand that misses.

Santana drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Santana jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Jones is defending against the submission attempts here by Santana.

Jones has one foot on Santana's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Jones looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Santana!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Santana fails in his attempt to clinch.
Jones tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Santana defends well and Jones ends up having to push Santana into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Jones fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Santana avoids it really well and circles away.
An attempted straight right counter from Santana misses the target.
Santana tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Jones manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Santana leaves Jones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Santana thinks about countering with a head kick.
Jones displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Santana.

Jones moves into the clinch.

Jones ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jones no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Santana postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Bill Santana.
I think Santana has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
