5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tongchai Tor Silachai! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Takeru Kazehaya! The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Sandra Marshall and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tor Silachai throws out a loose jab but Kazehaya uses good head movement to avoid it. Kazehaya throws a hook but Tor Silachai blocks it. A shot to the liver by Tor Silachai. Beautiful body shot. Kazehaya looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Tor Silachai! Kazehaya has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Temp Spar Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Tor Silachai tries to improve position but can't. Kazehaya thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Kazehaya is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Tor Silachai is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Tor Silachai is trying to get back to half guard. Tor Silachai is not content to let Kazehaya control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kazehaya tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Tor Silachai knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. Tor Silachai tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kazehaya wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Tor Silachai is working hard here to advance position. Tor Silachai has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kazehaya wants to control but Tor Silachai is keeping him busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kazehaya is staying tight to Tor Silachai's torso, preventing him from escaping. Tor Silachai wants to control but Kazehaya postures up. Kazehaya has hold of Tor Silachai's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Tor Silachai tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Kazehaya cranks the arm and Tor Silachai screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Tor Silachai, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Takeru Kazehaya! A victorious Takeru Kazehaya thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter. The defeated Tongchai Tor Silachai had this to say: 'You are just lucky today!'.
