Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Randy Bailey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rickson GURGEL! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Roberts and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bailey closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. GURGEL wants to control but Bailey postures up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bailey taking a breather here. Bailey is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but GURGEL is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. GURGEL regains half guard. GURGEL is not content to let Bailey control the position. Still in half guard, Bailey seems content to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. GURGEL looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Bailey stalling. Bailey is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. GURGEL wants to control but Bailey is keeping busy.
GURGEL is staying active underneath Bailey, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Bailey wants to free his trapped foot but GURGEL is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Bailey gets to his feet - back to striking we go! GURGEL misses with a jab, cross combination.
Bailey throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Bailey swats away the attempt to clinch by GURGEL. Bailey moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Bailey looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Bailey misses with a combination
and GURGEL counters with a shoot takedown. Bailey fights it but they end up in guard. Bailey is adopting a defensive guard. GURGEL preventing the sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. GURGEL passes easily into side control. Nice work. GURGEL looks gassed! Bailey regains half guard, as GURGEL was trying to land strikes. Bailey tries to kick GURGEL off but GURGEL keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. GURGEL prevents Bailey from improving his position. GURGEL with the ground and pound but Bailey uses the opportunity to regain guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Bailey wants to get back to his feet but GURGEL is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Bailey trying to strike off his back.
Bailey looking for a triangle here. GURGEL is fighting it but it looks tight! Bailey pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, GURGEL is tapping out - this one is all over!
