Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Devon Lester! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roberto Santiago! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lester will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Santiago throws out a powerful jab. Santiago scores with a jab. Lester acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Lester gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Lester takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Santiago connects with a body shot that sends Lester's belly button to the back. Lester misses with a takedown enabling Santiago to counter with a crisp jab. Santiago scores with a nice head shot. Lester defending well as Santiago loads up on a big left hand. Lester shoots in for a takedown but Santiago shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Devon Lester. That's going to take a lot out of him. Santiago connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Lester momentarily.
Santiago connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Santiago cracks a nice hook into Lester's ribs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lester shoots and misses and Santiago counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Lester tries for a takedown but Santiago circles away easily and Lester takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Santiago bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Lester's head. Lester throws a lazy uppercut
and Santiago counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Santiago defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lester. Santiago with a body punch. and Santiago counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Santiago looks to throw the jab but Lester is out of range. Santiago misses the jab. Lester steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Santiago.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lester throws a poor cross that misses
enabling Santiago to counter with a crisp jab. Santiago connects with a body shot. A lazy left from Santiago finds it's target. Lester walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Santiago fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Lester misses with a lunging right hand

Santiago quickly recovers to half guard. Lester wants to work for an arm triangle but Santiago is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lester is breathing heavily. Santiago is looking to improve his position.

Santiago keeping control of the position. Lester is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Santiago is just riding it out for now. Lester eventually gives up the hold. Santiago wants to get back to full guard.

He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Santiago tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Lester!
