Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cody Myres (ranked 1942 p4p, 248 weight class) and OJ Pines (ranked 2352 p4p, 289 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that OJ Pines was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, OJ Pines! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Dmitry Maklakov and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pines tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Myres swivels and escapes. Myres is looking to counter the offense by Pines and move into the clinch. Myres uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pines.
Pines throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Myres tries to counter by clinching up but Pines breaks away and moves out of range. Pines misses with a body shot.

As Pines tries to get set, Myres tries to push him back and clinch up but Pines manages to avoid the attempt. Pines will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Myres gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pines is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Pines sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Myres's guard.

Myres wants to stand but Pines is controlling the position. The fighters are working up against the cage. Myres manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pines blocking some punches.
