Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sam Hunter (ranked 5977 p4p, 239 weight class) and Igor Nunez (ranked 3485 p4p, 162 weight class). Sam Hunter has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Sam Hunter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Igor Nunez!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Ben Hemmingworth and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nunez shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Nunez showed some decent athleticism there.
Hunter wants to get back to full guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Nunez in particular looking to stall.
Hunter is looking to control Nunez's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hunter avoid being mounted?
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nunez sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Hunter defending well though.
Hunter is trying to get back to full guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Nunez in particular looking to stall.

Nunez's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Nice takedown defense from Hunter. No joy for Nunez on that attempt.
Nunez closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hunter circles away.

Nunez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hunter is trying to stand up here but Nunez is controlling him well.
Well, if Nunez is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Nunez is thwarting Hunter's attempts to control the position.
Hunter is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Nunez is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Hunter closes this distance looking for a takedown but Nunez circles away.

Hunter's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Nunez shoots in looking for a takedown but Hunter manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Nunez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Sam Hunter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Igor Nunez.
Hunter stuffs the takedown attempt from Nunez. Nunez gets slowly back to his feet.
Nunez tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hunter defends well and Nunez ends up having to push Hunter into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
It looked like Hunter was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Hunter tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Horrible takedown attempt by Hunter or perhaps it was just good defense by Nunez, which made it look bad.

Nunez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hunter.
Nunez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hunter.
Nice sprawl there from Hunter as Nunez shoots in.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Hunter.
Hunter has a takedown stuffed.
Hunter is breathing heavily.
Nunez shoots in looking for a takedown but Hunter manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Nunez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Nunez manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hunter on his heels. He'll look to pass Hunter's guard now, I'm sure.

Hunter closes the distance and clinches up with Nunez, looking for a takedown. Hunter pushes Nunez against the cage but Nunez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Nunez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Nunez is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Hunter pushes Nunez off looking to stand but Nunez dives back in and keeps control.
Hunter is trying to maintain the position but Nunez is very close to passing his half guard.

Nunez is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Hunter keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hunter wants to control but Nunez is having none of it.
Nunez content just to control the position here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nunez is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Hunter has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Nunez has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Nunez throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Hunter because Nunez loaded up on that one.

Nunez controlling from the full mount.
Nunez punching from mount but Hunter doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Nunez looking to control and managing it successfully.
Igor Nunez has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hunter is trying to stand.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Hunter tries to hold on but Nunez pushes him away.

Let's hope that Nunez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Hunter is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Igor Nunez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Hunter tries to score with a low kick but Nunez moves his leg out of the way.

Nunez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Hunter tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Hunter has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Nunez has passed into side control.
Hunter looks to move to half guard but instead Nunez has passed into mount! Damn!

Nunez throwing strikes here but Hunter is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Hunter tries to hold on but Nunez postures up.
Nunez takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Hunter tries to reverse the position but Nunez maintains control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hunter is in a horrible position here. Nunez smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Nunez tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Hunter really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Hunter is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Nunez controlling the position easily from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sam Hunter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Igor Nunez is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
