Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Graeme Chase (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Carwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Graeme Chase has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Graeme Chase!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane Carwin!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chase keeps the fight on the outside.
Chase looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Carwin shoots in and bounces Chase off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Carwin should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Carwin pushing down on Chase's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carwin content to control rather than advance.
Carwin passes to side control.
Carwin remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Carwin decides to stand back up.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Carwin has eaten all the pies!

Chase avoids a punch combination nicely.
A big right from Carwin misses.

Carwin feints and as Chase raises his hands in defense, Carwin changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

and Carwin counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Chase!
Carwin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Carwin is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Carwin gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
Chase knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carwin on the ground.

Chase tries to escape but Carwin has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Chase is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Chase grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.

Carwin controls the position.

Despite being in the dominant position, Shane Carwin just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Chase wants to break the clinch but can't.

and Carwin counters by clinching up.

Chase wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Carwin has him pressed against the cage.

and Carwin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Chase won't be happy with that.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Chase misses with a takedown attempt
enabling Carwin to counter with a crisp jab.

Carwin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Chase on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Chase tries to get out of the position.
Carwin slows the pace down in half guard.
Carwin takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Carwin uses his free foot to push down on Chase's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Chase.
Chase is looking to improve his position but Carwin isn't that keen on the idea.
Carwin breaks from Chase's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Carwin tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Carwin has hold of Chase's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Chase manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Chase wants to improve his position but Carwin is controlling well.

Carwin wants to work for an arm triangle but Chase is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Chase tries to buck Carwin off but Carwin is having none of it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Carwin wants to control but Chase is keeping him busy.
Chase pushes Carwin away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Carwin gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Carwin shoots in but no luck this time.

Carwin has taken the fight to the clinch.
Chase can't get the takedown.

Carwin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Carwin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Carwin swats away the attempt to clinch by Chase.
Chase misses with a low kick as Carwin jumps back.
Graeme Chase seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chase shoots for a double leg takedown but Carwin sprawls well. He's pushed Chase's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Graeme Chase. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Carwin closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Chase to the mat! Chase manages to get full guard.
Graeme Chase has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Shane Carwin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Carwin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
