Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Potter (ranked 852 p4p, 123 weight class) and Tomomi Tsuruta (ranked 330 p4p, 50 weight class). Potter comes to the cage accompanied by THE LION SLEEPS TONIGHT. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Potter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tomomi Tsuruta!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Donald Grub and James Ackerman.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tsuruta throws a shot from downtown. Potter moves away and avoids it.
Potter ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Tsuruta moves away.
Potter moves out of range as Tsuruta strikes.
A slow jab from Potter misses its intended target.
Potter pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Potter tries a head kick but it misses.
Tsuruta drops his hands momentarily and Potter takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Tsuruta comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Potter has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Potter throws a body punch but Tsuruta moves out of range.

Tsuruta gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Tsuruta blocks a body shot from Potter.
Potter misses with some punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tsuruta swings wildly with an uppercut but Potter uses good head movement to avoid it.
Potter has a couple of punches blocked by Tsuruta.
Tsuruta doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Potter escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Tsuruta misses with a straight left.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tsuruta throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Potter's waist but Potter gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Tsuruta off to one side.
Tsuruta looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Potter throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Potter jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

It looks like Tomomi Tsuruta has been cut.
Tsuruta chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Potter can pounce on him.
Potter misses the jab.
Potter stuffs the takedown.
Tsuruta throws a series of punches but Potter avoids them all with ease.
Jack Potter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Potter lands a big head kick that sends Tsuruta tumbling to the mat! Potter takes a step backwards and waves Tsuruta back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Tsuruta is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Potter fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Tsuruta square on the jaw! Damn, Tsuruta is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!

In his post fight interview, Jack Potter started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
