0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Adele Adensaya! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Paul Tew and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Adensaya connects with the punch. Barrera closes the distance looking to clinch and Adensaya counters with a straight right hand. Barrera misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Adensaya.
Barrera ducks right into an uppercut from Adensaya. A big left from Adensaya misses. Barrera tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Adensaya was well out of range. Barrera definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Barrera can't keep his opponent in guard - Adensaya advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Barrera keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Barrera wants to control but Adensaya is keeping busy.

Barrera avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Adensaya. Adensaya wants to take a breather but Barrera is having none of it. Barrera is trying to maintain the position but Adensaya is very close to passing his half guard. Barrera has hold of Adensaya's hands but Adensaya slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Barrera is looking to control Adensaya's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Barrera avoid being mounted?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Adensaya thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Adensaya misses with a head shot. Barrera uses the momentum to regain guard. Barrera working a defensive guard here.
Adensaya is in close to Barrera's body, working some short punches and elbows. Adensaya got a little sloppy there for a moment and Barrera has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Adensaya has managed to get both his arms back between Barrera's legs - danger averted. Barrera lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Adensaya wants to sweep but no luck. Barrera wants to control from the top but Adensaya keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Adensaya wants to sweep here but Barrera controlling him for the moment. Adensaya keeping moving, preventing Barrera from controlling successfully. Barrera pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Adensaya is keeping the position for now. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Adensaya can do anything to dispel that myth. Adensaya wants to sweep here but Barrera controlling him for the moment. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Adensaya controls Barrera momentarily but Barrera frees himself. Barrera controlling from the top position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Barrera ducks right into an uppercut from Adensaya. Adensaya throws a leg kick which misses Barrera's front leg but catches the back leg as Barrera tries to avoid it. Adensaya uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Barrera. Adensaya thows a left - swing and a miss!
That's one minute gone in the round. Adensaya looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Barrera has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Adensaya is working away from the top position though. Adensaya has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Barrera works his way to full guard. Good work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Adensaya avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Barrera working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Adensaya doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Adensaya manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Adensaya wants to control from the top but Barrera keeps moving. Barrera has momentary wrist control but Adensaya slips an elbow through the middle. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Adensaya distracts Barrera with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Barrera keeping moving, preventing Adensaya from controlling successfully. Barrera preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Barrera has his hands on Adensaya's head, controlling the position. Adensaya lands a couple of digs. Adensaya lands a couple of elbows.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Adensaya throws a sloppy strike and Barrera has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Adensaya is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Barrera!
