Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, King Murhaa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shawn Antoski! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Atkins and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Antoski throws a shot to the body.
Murhaa tries to move into range but Antoski moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Antoski changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. That kick from Antoski tenderised Murhaa's leg. Murhaa is trying to keep his angry face on. Antoski with a nice cross. Antoski dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Murhaa. That did some damage! Antoski will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Antoski loads up on a big right hand but Murhaa slips the punch. Murhaa chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Antoski can pounce on him.
Antoski ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Murhaa moves away. Antoski lands a nice leg kick that just misses Murhaa's sensitive parts. Antoski throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! No luck with that takedown attempt from Murhaa. We've been hearing reports that Murhaa has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Antoski, as that shot connected.
Shawn Antoski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Antoski connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Murhaa checks a leg kick nicely. Murhaa walks into a jab. Antoski throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Antoski looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Murhaa wants to clinch up but Antoski keeps it at a distance. Antoski connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Murhaa momentarily.
Antoski keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Murhaa has a takedown stuffed. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for King Murhaa. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Antoski misses with a head kick.
Murhaa takes one on the button. Antoski misses the shot to the body. Murhaa drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Antoski lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. A low kick from Antoski misses and Murhaa counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Antoski is defending against the submission attempts here by Murhaa.
Murhaa wants to take a breather but Antoski is having none of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Antoski kicks Murhaa off and gets back to his feet. Antoski tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Murhaa is able to avoid easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Murhaa blocks a jab. Murhaa fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Antoski throws a quick inside leg kick. Murhaa has a takedown stuffed. Antoski keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Shawn Antoski is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. A lazy body kick from Antoski and Murhaa counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Murhaa content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Murhaa stops Antoski from standing up. Antoski really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Murhaa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Murhaa looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Antoski is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Murhaa presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. A head punch blocked on the inside by Antoski. Murhaa drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Antoski breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
This has been an exciting period of action! A low kick from Antoski is predictable there and Murhaa holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Antoski misses with a hook to the ribs.
Antoski lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Murhaa backwards. Murhaa goes for a takedown attempt but Antoski pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Murhaa on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shawn Antoski dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Crunch! Antoski slams his shin into Murhaa's torso. Murhaa shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Antoski as he avoids it easily. Antoski throws a push kick but Murhaa slaps the foot to one side. Antoski lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Antoski has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Antoski thuds his right hand into Murhaa's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Murhaa sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Antoski dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Murhaa. That did some damage! Murhaa shoots in but Antoski avoids the takedown attempt easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Antoski throws a head kick that Murhaa semi-blocks.
Murhaa fails with the takedown and Antoski counters with a straight right hand. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for King Murhaa. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Murhaa rushes Antoski and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Antoski prevents the takedown attempt.
A nice left hand lands by Antoski.
Antoski pushes Murhaa back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Antoski goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Murhaa. Antoski lands a left hand that snaps the head of Murhaa backwards. Murhaa drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Antoski manages to break the clinch.
Antoski scores with a jab. Murhaa acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Antoski digs a good body shot into Murhaa's ribs. Murhaa gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Antoski gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Shawn Antoski! Our winner, Shawn Antoski, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
