Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, PJ Hecker! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quinton Sanders! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Donald Grub and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hecker misses with a shot to the body and Sanders counters with a single leg into guard. Hecker didn't expect that. Hecker has momentary wrist control but Sanders slips an elbow through the middle. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sanders content to stall in guard here. Hecker on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hecker tries to get out of the position. Sanders throws a big right hand that misses. Sanders with a flurry of punches that miss. Hecker knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sanders on the ground. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hecker wants to get back to his feet but Sanders passes into half guard.
Sanders slows the pace down in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanders lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Sanders throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Sanders has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Hecker tries to kick Sanders off but Sanders keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Sanders missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Sanders slips a nice elbow through Hecker's hands, connecting with Hecker's forehead. Sanders is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Sanders passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Hecker!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sanders throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Hecker has his hands clasped together but Sanders breaks the hold and Hecker is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Sanders!
