Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Basso Toscano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cus Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cus Jr has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Basso Toscano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cus Jr!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Alexandre Firmino and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A bone on bone clash there as Toscano blocks the leg kick.
Toscano looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Jr looks to land a combination but Toscano avoids it well.

and Toscano counters with a shoot takedown. Jr fights it but they end up in guard.
Toscano tries to free his leg and advance position but Jr is retaining full guard.
Toscano with a flurry of punches that miss.

Toscano drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Jr dives on top into guard.

Toscano has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jr can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Toscano had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Jr is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Toscano Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Jr's back instead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Toscano has the hooks in. Jr is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Toscano looking to break Jr's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Jr remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Toscano will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Toscano is trying to stick to Jr's back but Jr is turning into Toscano. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Toscano's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Jr.

Toscano working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jr doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jr manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jr drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jr jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Toscano looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Jr wants to pass the guard but Toscano is keeping the position.

Jr is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Toscano is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Toscano has escaped and now he's on top!

Toscano drops back, looking for a kneebar! Jr looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Jr looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jr!
Jr tries to move to mount but Toscano blocks the move with his legs.
Jr creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Toscano sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Toscano is looking for a sweep.
Jr trying to control the action but Toscano is working from the bottom.
Toscano tries to buck Jr off but Jr is having none of it.
Toscano manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Toscano looking for submissions off his back.
Jr prevents Toscano from improving his position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Jr looks to land a combination but Toscano avoids it well.
Jr has his takedown stuffed

and Toscano counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Jr!
Jr is wriggling around trying to escape.

Toscano is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Jr can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Toscano moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Jr has worked his arm free - good work by Jr!

Jr is desperately trying to improve his position but Toscano has a good base and remains in mount.

Toscano looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Jr keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Jr is controlling an arm, preventing Toscano from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Toscano closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jr circles away.
Jr looks to land a left hand but Toscano moved out of range nicely.

and Jr decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Toscano's guard.

Basso Toscano overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Toscano looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Jr is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jr accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jr won't allow Toscano to sweep him here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Jr misses with a double jab.
Jr shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Toscano counters with a takedown into side control.

Toscano thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Toscano advances to full mount.

Jr defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Toscano.
Jr is controlling an arm, preventing Toscano from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Toscano prevents Jr from getting the reversal.

Toscano is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Jr can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jr trying to control the action but Toscano is working from the bottom.
Jr taking a break here but Toscano is having none of it and regains half guard.
Jr throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Toscano is looking for a sweep. Jr is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Jr thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Toscano is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Jr pulls his head out easily.
Toscano pushes Jr off looking to stand but Jr dives back in and keeps control.
Jr wants to control but Toscano is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Cus Jr will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

and Toscano counters with a good low kick that Jr was not able to check.

Jr pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Toscano slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Toscano tries to roll over but Jr keeps him under control.
Toscano manages to get to full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Jr trying to control the position from guard on top but Toscano is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Toscano is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Jr is pressing down on Toscano's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Toscano is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jr doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Toscano.

Jr is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Toscano has latched onto it... Big trouble! Toscano pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Jr is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Toscano!
