Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Benito Hurley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Diman Aseev!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Fedor Mirinova and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aseev misses with a takedown
and Hurley counters with a left and a right that stings Aseev.
Aseev throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
It looked like Hurley was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Aseev scores with a jab.


It looks like Benito Hurley has been cut.

Aseev moves into the clinch successfully.

Hurley jumps guard and drags Aseev to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Aseev wants to get up but he can't break Hurley's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Aseev looking to sit in guard and control but Hurley gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Hurley postures up.
Hurley stays in close to Aseev's body and controls the position.
Hurley throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Aseev works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Hurley won't allow Aseev to sweep him here.

Hurley stands up from Aseev's guard - Hurley perhaps looking for a knockout.

Aseev drives through and clinches with Hurley against the cage.

Hurley breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Aseev throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Aseev throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Aseev closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Hurley drags the fight down to the ground.
Aseev in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Hurley is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Aseev wants to control from the top but Hurley keeps moving.

Hurley is pulling down on Aseev's head to control his posture.
Aseev stopping the sweep attempt from Hurley.
Hurley has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Hurley could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hurley has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Aseev.
Aseev changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hurley tries to avoid it but Aseev manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hurley to the ground. Hurley escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Benito Hurley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Diman Aseev.

Aseev circles away from the clinch attempt.

Aseev tries to keep at a distance but Hurley has taken the fight into the clinch.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Hurley is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Aseev can't fight it off and eventually Hurley manages to take the fight to the floor. Aseev looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hurley makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Hurley tries to close the distance and clinch up but Aseev swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Aseev shoots in but no luck this time.
Aseev throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Aseev moves into the clinch successfully.

Hurley turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Hurley manages to end up in side control.
Hurley is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Aseev will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hurley decides to stand back up. Hurley steps back and let's Aseev get back to his feet.
Hurley moves away from the strike by Aseev.
Aseev pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Hurley moves into range and clinches up with Aseev.
Aseev is breathing heavily.

Hurley tries to close the distance and clinch but Aseev swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Aseev must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hurley fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Aseev, pushing him back against the cage.

Hurley pulls guard effortlessly.

Aseev decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Hurley drives through and clinches with Aseev against the cage.

Hurley manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Aseev manages to get himself to full guard.

Hurley stands and steps away. Aseev gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Hurley tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Aseev manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Hurley clinches up with Aseev and pushes him back against the cage.
Aseev lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Hurley or not.

Hurley pulls Aseev in close to prevent any damage.
Aseev wants to stand but Hurley has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Hurley is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Aseev is controlling him.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Hurley breaks the clinch.

Aseev tries to keep at a distance but Hurley has taken the fight into the clinch.

Hurley turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Aseev is looking for a sweep.
Hurley in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Hurley controls the position.
Aseev tries to improve position but can't.
Hurley happy to just control the position for now.
Hurley works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Hurley decides to stand up, so the ref orders Aseev to his feet.

Aseev gets tackled into the cage by Hurley. Hurley maintains the clinch.
Hurley takes an elbow to the forehead.

Benito Hurley is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Aseev has managed to clinch.

Aseev breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Aseev has a takedown stuffed.

Hurley is trying to trip Aseev. He has hold of a leg but Aseev is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Hurley persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Hurley stands up and waves to Aseev to follow him.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hurley, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
