Coming up we have a heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Brodie Grundy (ranked 7179 p4p, 521 weight class) and Jim Duggan (ranked 2329 p4p, 280 weight class). Duggan comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Five Finger Death Punch- Bad Company kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 8 wins and 9 losses; Brodie Grundy! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; Jim Duggan! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Yves DeLean.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Grundy moves into the clinch successfully.
Grundy gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Duggan tries to roll over but Grundy keeps him under control. Grundy is working hard to pass the guard. Grundy is taking a breather. Duggan says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Grundy seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Duggan does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Grundy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Duggan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Duggan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Grundy is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Duggan wants to control from the top but Grundy keeps moving. Duggan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Grundy had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Duggan defends it easily. Grundy escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Duggan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Grundy holds on and takes a little breather. Grundy wants to control the position but Duggan says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Grundy looking for submissions off his back. Grundy is looking to control Duggan's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Grundy avoid being mounted? Grundy is staying active underneath Duggan, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Duggan is trying to control the action in half guard but Grundy is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Grundy looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Grundy looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Grundy is trying to get back to full guard. Duggan is keen to just control but Grundy is a slippery customer. Grundy tries for a kimura but Duggan is defending well. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

And that's the end of the fight! Grundy takes the fight on points by 15 to 5. Brodie Grundy decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way. |
