Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Andre Barnes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Andrey Baishakov! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Baishakov checks a low kick from Barnes. Barnes connects with a jab.
It looks like Andrey Baishakov has been cut. Baishakov moves into the clinch. Barnes wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Baishakov has him pressed against the cage. Baishakov lands a body shot in the clinch.
Barnes misses with a body punch.
Barnes is trying to break the clinch but Baishakov has him pressed against the cage. Barnes can't find room to land a body shot as Baishakov controls the action.
Barnes missing with knees to the body.
Barnes can't break the clinch.
Barnes is looking to break free of the clinch but Baishakov has double underhooks. Barnes is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Barnes wants to stall.
Baishakov blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Barnes goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Baishakov has clasped his hands together around Barnes's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Baishakov controlling the position from side mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. I looks like Baishakov might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Barnes is trying to improve his position. Baishakov controls the position. Barnes wants to control but Baishakov postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Barnes tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Baishakov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Baishakov slows the pace down.
Despite being in the dominant position, Andrey Baishakov just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Barnes swings for the body but Baishakov moves out of range.
Baishakov displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Barnes throws out the jab. Baishakov misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Barnes catches Baishakov with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Baishakov keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Barnes walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Baishakov drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Barnes swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Baishakov's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Andre Barnes!
