Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Emile Mcgowan (ranked 5229 p4p, 0 weight class) and Olly Andretti (ranked 24445 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Emile Mcgowan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Olly Andretti!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Andretti dives in and grabs Mcgowan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mcgowan pushes down on Andretti's head and hops out.
Mcgowan was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Andretti clinches.
Andretti is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Mcgowan will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Andretti up against the cage.
Mcgowan is working for takedown but Andretti is calmly controlling the position for now.
Andretti prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Emile Mcgowan. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Andretti jumps into guard, dragging Mcgowan to the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mcgowan is looking to stand up but Andretti won't let him.
Mcgowan postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Andretti is pulling down on Mcgowan's head. It's preventing any offense from Mcgowan, at least for the moment.

Andretti trying to keep a closed guard but Mcgowan is proving a slippery customer.
Mcgowan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Andretti wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Mcgowan wants to control from the top but Andretti keeps moving.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Andretti misses with a takedown
and Mcgowan counters with a leg kick.

Andretti gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Mcgowan fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Andretti pulls guard.
Mcgowan lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Andretti looking to control.
Andretti wants to sweep but no luck.
Mcgowan throws an elbow that misses. Andretti uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mcgowan's guard. Nice move by Andretti!

Andretti's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Andretti stands up and waves to Mcgowan to follow him.

Andretti pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Mcgowan stuffs the takedown attempt from Andretti. Andretti gets slowly back to his feet.
Andretti throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Mcgowan looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
Andretti shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mcgowan but Mcgowan pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mcgowan thinks about countering with a head kick.
Andretti looks winded!
Andretti misses with a straight right.
Andretti changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mcgowan tries to avoid it but Andretti manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mcgowan to the ground. Mcgowan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Mcgowan drives through with a takedown into guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mcgowan is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Mcgowan stands up over Andretti, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Mcgowan's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Mcgowan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Mcgowan has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Mcgowan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Mcgowan trying to control but Andretti is working from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mcgowan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Mcgowan lands a couple of elbows.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Olly Andretti will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Andretti throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Mcgowan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Andretti throws a right and a left that both miss.
Andretti tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mcgowan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Andretti somewhat.
Mcgowan appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Andretti misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Andretti looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Andretti shoots for a double leg takedown but Mcgowan sprawls well. He's pushed Andretti's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Andretti is breathing heavily.

Mcgowan gets tackled into the cage by Andretti. Andretti maintains the clinch.

Mcgowan swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Mcgowan is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Andretti is aware though and is defending well.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mcgowan is on top in guard.

Mcgowan controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Mcgowan's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Mcgowan's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Mcgowan throws a big right hand that misses.
Mcgowan stops Andretti from standing up.

Andretti pushes Mcgowan off and scrambles back to his feet.
Horrible takedown attempt by Andretti or perhaps it was just good defense by Mcgowan, which made it look bad.
Emile Mcgowan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Olly Andretti.
Andretti misses with an uppercut
and Mcgowan counters with a slapping leg kick.

Mcgowan stuffs the takedown.
Andretti shoots in for a double leg but Mcgowan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Mcgowan forces Andretti back against the cage and clinches.
Come on Mcgowan - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Andretti looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Mcgowan scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Mcgowan leaning his opponent against the cage.
Mcgowan is trying to pull guard but Andretti turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Andretti jumps guard but Mcgowan turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Mcgowan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Andretti darts in and clinches Mcgowan up against the cage.
Andretti jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mcgowan walks away with a smile on his face. Andretti gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
A head kick misses from Andretti.

Andretti gets a clinch.
Mcgowan scores with a nice hook to the head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Andretti gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Mcgowan.
Mcgowan tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Andretti smiles and moves away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Emile Mcgowan will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Mcgowan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Andretti has a takedown stuffed.
Mcgowan appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Nice takedown defense from Mcgowan. No joy for Andretti on that attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Andretti gets tackled into the cage by Mcgowan. Mcgowan maintains the clinch.
Andretti wants to break the clinch but can't.
Andretti has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Mcgowan is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Andretti pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Mcgowan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Andretti throws a head kick but Mcgowan moves out of range.

Andretti drives through and clinches with Mcgowan against the cage.
Mcgowan swings wildly with an uppercut but Andretti uses good head movement to avoid it.

Olly Andretti seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Mcgowan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Andretti bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Andretti slaps away a takedown attempt from Mcgowan, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Emile Mcgowan. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Andretti shoots in for a takedown but Mcgowan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Mcgowan is looking to counter with head kicks.
Andretti takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mcgowan leaves Andretti with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Mcgowan went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Andretti misses with a looping right.
Jab, jab by Mcgowan - just one landing.

Andretti moves into the clinch.
Andretti is trying to drag Mcgowan to the mat but Mcgowan just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Mcgowan manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Andretti wants to control from the top but Mcgowan keeps moving.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Andretti accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Andretti stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mcgowan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Andretti wants to stand but Mcgowan has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Mcgowan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Andretti is one step ahead there.
Andretti slips nicely into half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Andretti trying to control the action but Mcgowan is working from the bottom.
Mcgowan is looking to escape.
Mcgowan punching from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Andretti.
Mcgowan throws a big counter combination but Andretti scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Andretti shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mcgowan sprawls well. Mcgowan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Andretti gets slowly back to his feet.
Mcgowan was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Emile Mcgowan.
I think Mcgowan has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
