Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nick Diaz (ranked 23123 p4p, 641 weight class) and Jay Sunruz (ranked 1492 p4p, 184 weight class). Jay Sunruz is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nick Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Sunruz!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Eddie Farnsworth and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sunruz gets tackled into the cage by Diaz. Diaz maintains the clinch.

Sunruz gets control of Diaz's arms and successfully pulls guard. Sunruz will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Diaz throws an elbow that misses. Sunruz uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Diaz's guard. Nice move by Sunruz!

Sunruz is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Diaz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Sunruz with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Diaz can't keep his opponent in guard - Sunruz advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Sunruz has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Sunruz winds up and cracks Diaz with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Diaz is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Sunruz scores with a couple of nice shots.
Sunruz looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Sunruz lands a nice short elbow.
Sunruz working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Sunruz is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Diaz wants to improve his position but Sunruz is controlling well.
Sunruz working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Diaz has hold of Sunruz's hands but Sunruz slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Sunruz is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Sunruz looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Diaz with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.


Diaz is rocked!
Diaz wants to control but Sunruz is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Sunruz seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Oh Diaz is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Sunruz lands a nice short elbow.
Sunruz lands a big elbow - Diaz is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Sunruz!
