PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Quinton Hurley (ranked 7415 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaco Paco (ranked 23326 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Quinton Hurley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jaco Paco!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Atkins and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Paco ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Paco no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Paco is looking for a triangle but Hurley pushes his legs off easily.
Hurley really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
Paco wants to control the position but Hurley says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Hurley is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Paco has hold of Hurley's hands but Hurley slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Paco wants to get back to full guard.
Hurley wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hurley takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Paco moves into full guard.
Hurley lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Paco has a closed guard, preventing Hurley from standing up.
Hurley chips away with some ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hurley won't allow Paco to get back to his feet.
Hurley postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Paco pulls Hurley in close to prevent any damage.
Hurley postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Hurley postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Paco is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hurley, into his guard.

Hurley's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hurley is working hard here to advance position.
Hurley really is a fat lump.
Paco trying to control the action but Hurley is working from the bottom.

We've been informed that Paco has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Hurley has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Paco is working away from the top position though.

A close round but Jaco Paco will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Paco throws an elbow that misses. Hurley uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Paco's guard. Nice move by Hurley!

Hurley might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Paco shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hurley napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Paco tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Paco is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hurley knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Paco is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Hurley is trying to maintain the position but Paco is very close to passing his half guard.
Paco wants to control but Hurley is keeping him busy.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Quinton Hurley is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Paco rushes Hurley and presses him up against the cage.
Paco keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Hurley's efforts to push away.
Paco is trying to force a seperation but Hurley has the dominant position.
Paco blocks the elbow strike.

Hurley pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Paco forces Hurley back against the cage and clinches.
Paco lands a left hand.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Paco presses Hurley against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Hurley on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Paco gets underhooks to prevent Hurley's takedown attempt.

Hurley has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Paco clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jaco Paco showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Hurley gets caught napping as Paco dives in and scores a takedown. Hurley manages to retain guard.

Hurley tries to keep at a distance but Paco has taken the fight into the clinch.

Hurley's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Paco shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hurley manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Paco is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hurley holds on and takes a little breather.

Hurley wants to sweep here but Paco controlling him for the moment.
Hurley is pulling down on Paco's head. It's preventing any offense from Paco, at least for the moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Paco looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Hurley is positioning himself well to prevent Paco advancing to mount.
Hurley is trying to control but can't.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Paco throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Hurley to regain full guard.

Hurley controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Hurley wants to control but Paco is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Quinton Hurley has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jaco Paco is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hurley is not content to let Paco control the position.

Jaco Paco comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Paco winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
