Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ahmad Al Obait (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edwin Baker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ahmad Al Obait had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ahmad Al Obait!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Al Obait misses with a jab, cross combination.

Baker looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Al Obait is looking to escape.

Baker is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Baker is stalling here. Al Obait is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Baker seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Al Obait has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Al Obait decides to stand up, so the ref orders Baker to his feet.

Baker is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Al Obait has managed to free his arm - good work.

Al Obait tries to kick Baker off but Baker keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Al Obait trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Baker is tying to control. Al Obait wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Al Obait will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Baker throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Al Obait's waist but Al Obait gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Baker off to one side.
Al Obait throws a nice looking combination but Baker bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Al Obait throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Al Obait misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Baker fails in his attempt to clinch.
Al Obait tries to bum rush Baker with a series of wild strikes but Baker uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Baker closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Baker swings around for an armbar but Al Obait sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Baker's guard.

Baker seems keen to control Al Obait's posture.

Baker has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Al Obait is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Baker.
Baker tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Al Obait wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Baker changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Al Obait tries to avoid it but Baker manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Al Obait to the ground. Al Obait escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Baker shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Al Obait as he avoids it easily.
Al Obait will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Al Obait fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

and Baker counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Al Obait keeping moving, preventing Baker from controlling successfully.

Al Obait pushes Baker off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Al Obait feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Al Obait escapes and gets back to his feet.
Baker takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Baker feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Baker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Al Obait swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Baker loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Baker tries to free his leg and advance position but Al Obait is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ahmad Al Obait will probably get the nod.

Al Obait chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Baker can pounce on him.
No joy there for Al Obait, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Baker changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Al Obait looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Baker thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Al Obait wants to get up but he can't break Baker's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Baker working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Al Obait doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Al Obait manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Baker looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Al Obait has picked Baker up and slammed him! Baker can't keep hold of the triangle and Al Obait manages to pass to side control!

Al Obait stands up and we're back to a striking position.

and Baker decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Al Obait's guard.
Al Obait wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Baker manages to pass to side control.
Baker wants to lay and pray for a moment but Al Obait keeps working.

Al Obait looks like he's trying to stand up.
Edwin Baker has got the better of the ground game so far.
Baker wants to control but Al Obait is keeping him busy.
Baker throws a strike but Al Obait avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Baker accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Baker won't allow Al Obait to get back to his feet.

Edwin Baker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Baker has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
