PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sage Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tron Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tron Johnson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jackson pinned against the cage. Jackson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Johnson is looking to improve his position but Jackson isn't that keen on the idea.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Jackson is taking a breather. Johnson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Jackson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Jackson lands a nice short elbow.
Johnson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Johnson is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Jackson pulls his head out easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Jackson looks up at the clock and then as Johnson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jackson smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Jackson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jackson lands in his opponent's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jackson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Jackson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Johnson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jackson has Johnson in his guard.

Jackson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Johnson's guard.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jackson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Johnson for as long as he can get away with.
Jackson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Johnson is looking for a sweep. Jackson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Sage Jackson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jackson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Johnson wants to sweep but Jackson has passed to side control!

Jackson scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Johnson to see if he's OK.

Jackson is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Johnson looks calm but he's in trouble here. Jackson gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Johnson is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Jackson lets go of the hold and Johnson can pop his arm back in it's socket.
