Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Killmore! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Max Holloway! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Colin Fray and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Holloway tries to close the distance and clinch up but Killmore swats him away and circles back towards the center. Holloway scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Holloway shoots and misses and Killmore counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Max Holloway seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Killmore shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Holloway manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Killmore seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Holloway is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Killmore sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Holloway's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Killmore performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Killmore lands strikes from half guard. Killmore slows the pace down in half guard. Holloway really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Killmore. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Killmore works his way into full mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Killmore lands a heavy elbow.
Holloway is rocked! Killmore postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Holloway badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Killmore around the waist but Killmore pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Killmore is the winner by TKO! Killmore jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jake Killmore!
