PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sam Rinaldi (ranked 581 p4p, 87 weight class) and Cody Myres (ranked 1010 p4p, 144 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Cody Myres was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sam Rinaldi!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cody Myres!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Valeri Chadov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rinaldi throws a hook but Myres blocks it.

Myres wants to counter the offense by Rinaldi and move into the clinch position.

Rinaldi remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Myres is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Rinaldi asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Rinaldi is putting a hurting on Myres here, landing some big shots from side control.
Myres really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rinaldi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee asks Rinaldi politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Rinaldi prefers to stall for the moment though.

Rinaldi gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
Rinaldi lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Myres hold on?!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sam Rinaldi!

After the fight, Sam Rinaldi was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
