Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mickael Candie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dimitri Emelianenko! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Candie closes the distance and pushes Emelianenko back into the cage. Stalling in the clinch from Candie.
Emelianenko prevents a body shot from Candie. Candie breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Candie clinches with his opponent.
Candie manages to break the clinch.
Candie wants to clinch. Candie throws a sloppy head kick and Emelianenko moves out of range easily. As Candie backs off Emelianenko throws a huge counter combo but Candie manages to avoid it all. Candie fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Emelianenko, pushing him back against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Emelianenko has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Candie is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Candie's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Emelianenko slaps away a takedown attempt from Candie, before circling back to the center of the mat. Emelianenko steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Candie. Candie shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Emelianenko counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Candie scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Emelianenko manages to mount him!
That's one minute gone in the round. Emelianenko sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Candie wants to try and get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Emelianenko content just to control the position here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Candie is trying desperately to improve position. Emelianenko controlling from mount. Candie is desperately trying to improve his position but Emelianenko has a good base and remains in mount. Emelianenko controlling the pace for now. Candie looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Candie tries to hold on but Emelianenko pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Emelianenko scoring with strikes but Candie is staying in there. Emelianenko has control of Candie's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Candie regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Emelianenko working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Emelianenko can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Candie is looking to escape. Emelianenko might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Candie haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Emelianenko controlling from mount. Candie is looking to improve his position but Emelianenko isn't that keen on the idea. Emelianenko should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Emelianenko avoids the attempt from Candie to control. Candie sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Emelianenko is looking to advance position but Candie won't allow it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Emelianenko drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Emelianenko looking to pass the guard. Emelianenko is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Candie controlling the position. Emelianenko is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Candie is trying to keep Emelianenko in close.

That's one minute gone in the round. Emelianenko being controlled here momentarily. Candie will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Candie trying to keep a closed guard but Emelianenko is proving a slippery customer.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Candie keeping moving, preventing Emelianenko from controlling successfully.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Candie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Emelianenko's waist but Emelianenko gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Candie off to one side. Candie tries to close the distance and clinch but Emelianenko swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Candie throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Candie takes the fight into the clinch. Emelianenko has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Candie clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Emelianenko trying to control. Emelianenko has the hooks in. Candie is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Emelianenko controls the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Emelianenko wants to control but Candie is keeping busy. Emelianenko not allowing Candie to control his hands. Candie tries to escape but Emelianenko has the hooks in and won't let him break free. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Candie decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Candie clinches with his opponent.
Candie is struggling to control the position. Candie creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Candie missing with knees to the body.
Emelianenko goes for a takedown attempt but Candie pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Emelianenko fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Emelianenko shoots for a double leg takedown but Candie sprawls well. He's pushed Emelianenko's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Mickael Candie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dimitri Emelianenko. Emelianenko avoids the head kick by Candie.

Candie thuds his shin into the meat of Emelianenko's side. Candie darts in and clinches Emelianenko up against the cage. Emelianenko looks to throw an elbow but misses. Candie comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Candie doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Candie throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Emelianenko blocks it with crossed arms. Candie misses with a punch to the body.
Candie breaks from the clinch.
Candie dives in and grabs Emelianenko's left leg, looking for a takedown. Emelianenko pushes down on Candie's head and hops out. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Emelianenko shoots in and drives through. Candie sprawls well. No luck for Emelianenko with that takedown attempt. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Candie clinches with his opponent.

Candie slaps away a takedown attempt from Emelianenko, before circling back to the center of the mat. Mickael Candie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dimitri Emelianenko. The fight moves into the clinch position. Mickael Candie has scored more points in the clinch so far. Emelianenko works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Candie manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Candie will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. And Emelianenko tries to counter it with a takedown but Candie pushes his down on his head and steps out.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. No joy there for Candie, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
No luck for Emelianenko with that takedown attempt. Candie throws a head kick that misses. Emelianenko swats away the attempt to clinch by Candie. Emelianenko appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Candie misses with a body shot.
Mickael Candie is winning the standup battle so far. Candie moves in looking to clinch but Emelianenko pushes him off. Candie closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Candie stops a takedown attempt from Emelianenko.

Emelianenko seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Emelianenko forces his way into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Still in half guard, Emelianenko seems content to control. Emelianenko seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Candie does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Emelianenko content to control rather than advance.
