Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Greg Trevino! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chuck Davies! The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Eliza Hachem and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Trevino shoots for a double leg takedown but Davies sprawls well. He's pushed Trevino's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Trevino looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Davies feints the counter takedown. Chuck Davies seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Davies slaps away a takedown attempt from Trevino, before circling back to the center of the mat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Greg Trevino. That's going to take a lot out of him. Davies shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Davies was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Davies remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Trevino can't do much from the bottom here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davies is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Trevino taking a bit of punishment here - Davies scoring with strikes. Davies tries to advance to mount but can't. Davies working the head and body with strikes. Trevino really is a fat lump. You can see the frustration on Trevino's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Davies taking a breather here. Trevino wants to control but Davies postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Davies content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Davies landing strikes. Davies wants to stand but Trevino is controlling his arm. Trevino might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Trevino holding on. Trevino seems a little lost for a moment, as Davies dominates the positioning. Davies has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Trevino can't do much from the bottom here. Trevino is being controlled here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Trevino struggling a bit here. Davies thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Trevino struggling a bit here. Davies advances to mount. Davies controlling from the full mount. Trevino wants to control but Davies is having none of it. Davies controlling from mount. Davies is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Trevino can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Trevino wants to hold on but Davies pushes him away. Davies with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Trevino is trying desperately to improve position. Davies looking to control and managing it successfully. Davies jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Trevino manages to avoid the submission attempt. Trevino struggling a bit here. Davies decides to stand back up. Trevino with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Davies rushes Trevino and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Davies has Trevino pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Davies pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Trevino tumbling to the mat - Davies dives into Trevino's guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Davies postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chuck Davies dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Trevino throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Davies's waist but Davies gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Trevino off to one side. Davies keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Davies feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Trevino knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Davies on the ground. Davies slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Trevino is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Trevino working a defensive guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davies tries to free his leg and advance position but Trevino is retaining full guard. Davies advances to half guard. Davies working the head and body with strikes. Trevino misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Davies is thwarting Trevino's attempts to control the position. Davies is figuring out what he wants to do next. Trevino missing with punches from the bottom.
Davies is working for a submission of some sort.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Trevino trying to hold on to Davies's head to control him but Davies postures up.
Trevino wants to get back to full guard. Davies is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Trevino! Davies controlling from the full mount. Davies scoring with strikes but Trevino is staying in there. Trevino is looking to improve his position but Davies isn't that keen on the idea. Davies sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Davies looking for a guillotine from mount but Trevino is having none of it. Davies controlling from the full mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Trevino is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Trevino working to try and regain half guard.
Davies lands a big shot there that rocks Trevino but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
It looks like Greg Trevino has been cut. Davies content just to control the position here. Trevino tries to reverse the position but Davies maintains control. Davies tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Davies looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Trevino working to try and regain half guard.
Davies controlling his opponent. You get the feeling that Trevino really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Greg Trevino's cut is getting worse. Davies postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Trevino in real trouble here! The ref calls for Trevino to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
