Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andy Day! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alderson Silva! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Alexandre Firmino and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva closes the distance and clinches up with Day, looking for a takedown. Silva pushes Day against the cage but Day circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Day throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Silva. Silva dodges the punch combination from Day.
A combination from Day does no damage. Nice takedown defense from Day. No joy for Silva on that attempt. Andy Day seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Day rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Silva moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Day shoots in for a takedown but Silva shows good takedown defense. Silva doesn't succeed with the takedown and Day counters with a nice uppercut.
It looks like Alderson Silva has been cut. Andy Day has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alderson Silva. Day connects with a good right hand that stumbles Silva. Silva circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Day takes the fight into the clinch. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! Silva missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Silva wants to free his trapped foot but Day is holding on for dear life with his legs. Silva looks gassed! Silva thows a huge punch but Day dodges it nicely.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Day closes this distance looking for a takedown but Silva circles away. Day swinging wilding here.
Silva fails with a takedown attempt. Silva shoots in looking for a takedown. Day tries to sprawl out of it but Silva keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Day manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Day moves into range and clinches up with Silva.

Day's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Day drives through and clinches with Silva against the cage.
Day lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Silva backwards. Day lands a shot to the body. Silva keeps control of Day as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Silva is pressed up against the cage. Day has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Silva down to the mat. Silva avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Silva avoids a punch combination nicely.

Day tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Silva. Silva tries to roll over but Day keeps him under control. Silva has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Day is trying to control the action in half guard but Silva is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Silva takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Day closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Day lands in his opponent's guard. Day throws a big right hand that misses. Day gets to his feet. Silva looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Day shoots in for a double leg but Silva sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Day closes the distance and clinches. Alderson Silva has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Day manages to break the clinch.

And that's the end of the fight! Andy Day showed his dominance in that final round. Well Day has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
