Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Amin Khan (ranked 6866 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Villa (ranked 3280 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Amin Khan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Juan Villa!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Franklyn Lucas and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Villa fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
As Villa tries to get set, Khan tries to push him back and clinch up but Villa manages to avoid the attempt.
Khan stuffs the takedown.
Khan changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
No luck for Khan with that takedown attempt.
Villa misses with a double jab
and Khan makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Villa keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Khan scores with a head kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Khan lands a big head kick that sends Villa tumbling to the mat! Khan takes a step backwards and waves Villa back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Khan shoots in and drives through. Villa sprawls well.

Villa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Khan's waist but Khan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Villa off to one side.

Villa bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Khan is looking to reverse the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Khan connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Villa's hands.
Khan goes for a double leg but Villa avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Villa continues to drive forward.

Villa digs a right hand underneath Khan's ribcage. Khan let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Villa escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Khan is defended easily by Villa.
Horrible takedown attempt by Villa or perhaps it was just good defense by Khan, which made it look bad.

Villa connects with a leg kick. Khan looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Villa shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Khan napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Khan tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Villa lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Villa throws some wild stikes that Khan manages to avoid easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Amin Khan will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Villa gets a takedown into half guard.
Villa throwing shots but Khan is blocking nicely.

Villa working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Villa uses his free foot to push down on Khan's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Khan.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The referee asks Villa politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Villa prefers to stall for the moment though.

Poor strikes thrown by Villa there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Khan is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Villa is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Khan is defending well though. Villa let's go of the attempt for now.
Khan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Villa on the ground.

Khan is in trouble now - Villa has advanced to mount!

Villa has hold of Khan's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Khan manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Villa cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Khan is just holding on here. Villa manages to take his back.
Villa just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Villa looking to break Khan's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Khan remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Villa will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
